PTC and Unity Technologies announced that they will work together to integrate the Vuforia AR platform into the Unity engine to provide a seamless development experience to Unity's global ecosystem. The Vuforia AR platform uses advanced computer vision technology to enable digital content to be presented in a real-world environment. Vuforia supports handheld and headset devices that provide Unity and other development tools with easy workflow, SDK, and cloud services. More than 275,000 developers already use the Vuforia platform. Vuforia supports most AR applications on the App Store and Google Play. Unity is a global development platform for developing 2D, 3D, VR, AR games and experiences. In the third quarter alone, mobile games made through the Unity engine have already exceeded 5 billion downloads. It can be said that Unity is the most commonly used 3D experience development tool. Developers are now working with Unity and Vuforia to develop most game, enterprise, and consumer 3D applications. More than 80% of the 30,000 applications distributed in Vuforia are developed using the Unity engine.
